Pelagus
Pelagus (Latin for "the sea") was established in September 2013 by Scott McEwan AFNI to specialise in maritime security management systems development and implementation in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.
Scott McEwan
Scott's career in international shipping began in the late 1960's with Wilh Wilhelmsen and he was later a general manager with
Burns Philp Shipping.
In 2003, he attended one of Australia's first ISPS training courses and has since then studied
everything available on the subject.
Since 2004 he has delivered ISPS training to approximately 2,000 senior ships officers and
executives from port / offshore facility operators, security inspectors and guards in Australia and neighboring countries.
He has also conducted external audits and reviews of the security assessments and plans of leading ship,
port and facility operators.
Having developed an enduring interest in effective maritime security management, establishing a
business which specialises in this important sector was a logical step.
Pelagus offers:
- Independent ship and maritime security plan audits, conducted with objectivity and thoroughness, with reports containing fact-based observations, to assist your security system reviews
- Consultancy which is informed and collaborative, to optimise security assessments and plan implementation
- Training on small courses, delivered by a lecturer whose practical understanding of ISPS Code implementation and associated regulatory compliance is second to none
